Software Quality Assurance
This job description is written in English, the working language for this role.
About the role
As a Software Quality Assurance Engineer, you will play an important role in maintaining software quality by conducting systematic testing and identifying potential issues before application releases. You will collaborate with Software Developers, Product Managers, Business Analysts, and other technical teams to understand application requirements, execute testing activities, and ensure identified defects are properly documented and resolved. This role requires strong knowledge of software testing methodologies, test case development, defect management, and testing tools, with the ability to work effectively in an Agile development environment.
What you’ll do
- Analyze business requirements, functional specifications, and acceptance criteria to identify testing scenarios and ensure adequate test coverage.
- Design, develop, maintain, and execute test cases, test scenarios, and test data based on application requirements and expected system behavior.
- Conduct manual testing on web-based, mobile, or enterprise applications to identify functional defects, usability issues, and unexpected system behavior.
- Track and manage identified defects using issue-tracking tools such as Jira, GitLab Issues, or equivalent platforms, and coordinate with developers to support timely issue resolution.
- Perform defect retesting and regression testing after bug fixes or system enhancements to verify that reported issues have been resolved without introducing new defects.
- Participate in Agile/Scrum activities, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, backlog refinement, and sprint reviews, to align testing activities with development schedules.
- Support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) by preparing relevant testing scenarios, documenting findings, and coordinating issue resolution with stakeholders.
- Monitor testing progress, report testing status and unresolved defects, and ensure testing activities are completed according to established project timelines.
- Identify recurring defects and testing gaps, and recommend improvements to testing processes, test coverage, and overall software quality.
- Support API testing using tools such as Postman to validate request and response behavior, data accuracy, error handling, and integration functionality.
What you’ll bring
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum 2–3 years of experience as a Software Quality Assurance Engineer, Software Tester, Quality Assurance Analyst, or a related software testing role.
- Strong understanding of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), Software Testing Life Cycle (STLC), and software quality assurance principles.
- Hands-on experience in manual software testing, including functional testing, integration testing, system testing, regression testing, smoke testing, and User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
- Experience using testing and issue-tracking tools such as Jira, TestRail, Zephyr, GitLab Issues, or equivalent platforms.
- Familiarity with API testing using Postman, Swagger, or similar tools, including validation of HTTP methods, status codes, JSON responses, and error handling.
- Basic understanding of SQL queries for database validation, test data verification, and troubleshooting data-related issues.
- Basic knowledge of test automation concepts and tools such as Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, or Appium is an advantage.
